Born in Germany in 1981, Andy Arnold grew up in a musical
family. After playing trumpet he picked up the guitar at
the age of 12. Composing soon turned out to be just as important
for him as playing the guitar and he wrote tunes for the
bands he was in (which were mostly funk, blues and soul
bands). After moving to Berlin at the age of 19 he discovered
a strong interest in jazz and two years later he moved to
the Netherlands to study jazz guitar at the Amsterdam Conserva-tory.
Andy Arnold studied with a wide range of guitarists, such
as Frank Möbus, Mike Stern, Wayne Krantz, Marteen van
den Grinten and Leni Stern.
Over
the years Andy Arnold got influenced and inspired by the
music of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, SRV,
John McLaughlin, Wayne Krantz, David Binney, J.S.Bach, Mike
Stern, Vicente Amigo, Jeff Beck, Brad Mehldau, Leni Stern,
Albert King and Bill Frisell.
